That's the question being raised around the relationship between former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and pop superstar Katy Perry. According to a source, this pairing might be less about a fairytale and more about strategic maneuvering in the public eye.
The insider, speaking to Star Magazine, suggests that Trudeau is the one benefiting most from the relationship. They claim that after his political career experienced a downturn, dating Perry has become a means of boosting his public image. The source stated, "People have been fascinated with Katy for years, and they’re always going to be curious about what she does next."
But here's where it gets controversial... The source went on to say, "Not so with Justin. He’s a nepo baby who flamed out in his political career and doesn’t have much of a path forward without his celebrity status." The implication is that Trudeau is leveraging Perry's fame to stay relevant. The source further emphasized, "Dating Katy has made him more famous, in a positive way, and he doesn’t want this trend to stop…It’s absolutely key to his survival as a public figure.” They added that Trudeau "needs this relationship way more than Katy does, and everybody around her knows that.”
The relationship, which has been quietly developing for months, first sparked public interest when photos of the couple aboard Perry’s yacht off the coast of Santa Barbara went viral in October. The photos showed them embracing and sharing intimate moments.
The People reported that Trudeau had been pursuing Katy since their first date in July 2025.
