Time to update your Apple TV once more. Apple has just released tvOS 26.2 for Apple TV and the HomePod family.
Traditionally, minor tvOS updates focus on bug fixes and stability rather than new front-end features. This time, however, Apple has added two notable enhancements to tvOS (https://appleinsider.com/inside/tvos).
First, users can create Apple TV user profiles without needing to link an Apple ID, a practical option for anyone in the household who uses the device but isn’t part of the Apple Ecosystem.
Second, Apple doubles down on child safety with a new update: parents can enable a dedicated kids mode within the TV app for child profiles.
The update also expands Liquid Glass support for Apple TV 4K (https://appleinsider.com/inside/apple-tv-4k). Beyond these changes, the rest of the improvements are described as under-the-hood fixes aimed at enhancing the overall experience.
As noted, it’s unusual for a minor build to introduce new features. tvOS 26.2 appears to extend the capabilities introduced with tvOS 26 (https://appleinsider.com/inside/tvos-26), which brought a Liquid Glass redesign, updates to the Music app, and several significant audio enhancements.
Apple’s tvOS runs both the Apple TV hardware and the HomePod lineup.
