According to PWInsider, WWE is intentionally keeping certain wrestlers off TV to ensure they remain fresh and ready for a big comeback when the time is right. Rusev, a former Intercontinental Champion, has been largely absent since his loss to Jey Uso in November. His only appearance since then was a match against Otis on Main Event.
But here's where it gets controversial: WWE is reportedly doing this to avoid "wasting" talent on storylines that aren't considered "primary." The goal is to preserve these wrestlers for a more impactful return when the creative team has a substantial narrative planned.
And this is the part most people miss: Rusev isn't the only one on the sidelines. The Street Profits, a popular tag team, are also being kept off the main shows, last appearing in a WWE Tag Team Championship match in October.
In other absence-related news, Aleister Black has been on hiatus since January, with a planned creative break and an injury to his tailbone.
